Morality Systems in Video Games

I’m working on an article on moral choice systems in  video games and I wanted to ask my lovely readers: are there any favorite examples you would like to see mentioned?  Any terrible examples you would like to see eviscerated?  Let me know in the comments!

I’m going to get back to work.  In the meantime, check out these videos on the subject and be sure to share your thoughts!

  1. One of the most rarely talked about and emotionally fraught “moral choice” systems I’ve experienced is in ‘The Void’. You collect scattered supplies of colour in a drab world, and you meet a handful of “sisters” – ethereal damsels in a limbo-like world. You can choose to use your collected colour to “ascend” and escape from the titular Void – or to give it to one of the sisters for her to ascend instead.

I understand the developers’ (Ice Pick Lodge) first game, Pathologic, had some pretty harrowing morality at play, but I haven’t played it myself.
